Seeking a Real Estate Attorney

We are looking for a detail-oriented Real Estate Attorney to assist with legal matters related to our real estate practice.

The responsibilities include drafting legal documents, including but not limited to, leases, title opinions, and conveyance documents; and will also include handling zoning, land use and eminent domain issues. 

The ideal candidate should demonstrate excellent writing skills, have a thorough understanding of real estate law, and be familiar with the legal complexities of real estate transactions.

Real Estate Attorney Responsibilities & Duties

  • Provide legal advice related to property and real estate dealings
  • Review, draft, and negotiate real estate purchase agreements and lease agreements
  • Conduct thorough title searches, examine abstracts of title, draft title opinions and rectify title defects
  • Represent clients in court in case of any legal disputes
  • Ensure compliance with real estate laws and regulations
  • Assist with foreclosure procedures
  • Provide legal support for environmental issues and land use
  • Coordinate with real estate agents and brokers to close real estate transactions
  • Advise clients on legal issues related to real estate transactions
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal real estate laws
  • Handle closings and ensure all legal documents are properly executed
  • Advise on zoning and land use issues
  • Prepare and file all necessary legal documents regarding real estate transactions
  • Provide legal counsel during real estate development and construction projects

Real Estate Attorney Qualifications & Skills

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law in the State of Iowa
  • 5-7 years of experience in real estate law
  • Probate and Trust experience
  • Expertise in local, state, and federal real estate laws
  • Exceptional analytical and research skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Effective time management and ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously
  • Proficient in legal writing and documentation
  • Ability to handle large volumes of work and multi-tasking
  • Familiarity with title insurance and Iowa Title Standards of the Iowa Bar Association
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, legal software and research tools.
