Dustin D. Smith

Raised in Southeast Iowa, Dustin graduated from the University of Iowa in 1993. Before moving to Des Moines to attend Drake Law School, Dustin spent a year in his hometown of Burlington, IA assisting in the family’s business, Auctions by Smith, as second auctioneer to his father.

Since his admittance to the Iowa Bar in 1997, his practice has focused on commercial & residential real estate transactions/development, business/corporate governance & transactions, and wills/trusts & estate planning. Since 2008, he has operated Smith Law, P.C. as a sole practitioner.  Dustin joined Peddicord Lillis in January 2026, bringing with him over 28 years of unique and unparalleled experience in the Iowa legal community. 

When not engrossed in his clients’ diverse legal needs, Dustin enjoys spending time with his three adult children (Rylie, Lillie & Kinnick) and two pups (Luna & Sol).
